Church School Program

Church School is an extension of the bible teachings received during Sunday morning worship service and Wednesday night bible study. It is a structured, Christian, educational environment for both children and adults. Study guides, Faith Pathway Bible Studies for Adults, published by Sunday School Publishing Board are used to follow along with the bible to help explain focal verses, give a background of the scriptures, provide an in depth look at the bible and facilitate daily devotional reading. Instructors use the Precepts for Living.

Sunday School focuses on the five functions of the Church: evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and worship. It is an effective strategy that serves to organize, equip, and mobilize church members to live obediently as believers.

Classes are held every Sunday morning at 9:30 am.

Teachers:
Sister Gwen Lavender, Deacon Larry Monroe, Deacon Tony Redeemer,
Reverend Randall Hardy, Reverend Alvin Henix and Sister Sandra Byas, Brother Brandon Haynes, and Pastor Otis Washington.

Youth Church School Ministry:

The purpose of Youth Church is to prepare and equip young people with the tools and skills necessary to navigate this place we call home. Through shared experiences like Wednesday night fellowship and guest speakers from Prevention and Youth Services and MSU Extension, youth gain experience in handling bullies, making friends, and engaging in healthy choices and flexing their evangelistic muscle. One of our biggest hopes is that youth will transition into adult ministry through the Youth choir, Jr. Laymen, and Jr. Nurses/Ushers/Hospitality/Security. Youth involvement with the Saginaw Valley Baptist District Association and Congress of Christian Education, the Wolverine State Missionary Baptist Convention, and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. continues to be a learning ground as well, by providing youth with information on why we do what we do and what we are in Jesus Christ.

The purpose of the Baptist Layman is to “equip every man and Boy to become a participant in the church as a life-style missionary”.

Leaders work to involve men and boys in praying, studying, enlisting, giving ministry and witnessing in their community and to their world. To help develop young Christian men as witnesses for Christ and good citizens through role models and mentors. Also, we will bridge the gap between the junior and senior laymen wherever it may exist, and to support our Pastor in the perpetual advancement of Messiah MBC.
